Twice a year, once in the fall and in the spring, we host a Wish Week. Chi O hosts themed fundraising events every day of the week to benefit Make-A-Wish. Some of our favorites include Chi Hop (get homemade pancakes with delivery anywhere on campus), Chi O Consignment (buy super cute clothes for super cheap prices), and Wings for Wishes (come early to buy a plate of buffalo wings for lunch).
In the spring, we put on a semi-formal gala with dinner and a very competitive raffle. Sisters and community members speak about their experiences with Make-A-Wish and remind us of the importance of support for our philanthropy. All of the money from tickets, the raffle, and donations are donated directly to Make-A-Wish.
Swishes For Wishes
This event is a 3 v 3 basketball tournament open to the WPI community. For a small registration fee, teams are entered into the bracket style competition to win all the bragging rights. Players of all abilities come out to join us, from the varsity players to the first timers. Concessions and registration fees are donated to Make-A-Wish.
Letters to Santa
Around Christmas time, before we break for winter vacation, Chi O teams up to write letters to Santa. These letters are then brought to Macy’s and dropped in Santa’s mailbox. As part of Macy’s Believe Campaign, they donate money to Make-A-Wish for every letter written to Santa. This is a great social event to bond with others and benefit our philanthropy.
Each year, Chi O teams up with Chipotle for one night only to host CHIpOtle. During the event, Chipotle in Shrewsbury generously donates 50% of the proceeds from the night’s sales to our philanthropy when people present our flyer or mention Chi O. We pile into cars and bring our flyers to Chipotle because Chi O loves Make-A-Wish and #chioeats.
